UFS President Attends the Inauguration of Governor Kathy Hochul

​On January 1, 2023, University Faculty Senate (UFS) President Keith Landa joined the SUNY Government Relations team and Student Assembly (SA) delegation to attend the historical inauguration of Governor Kathy Hochul, the first female Governor of New York State.

President Landa stated, "Governor Hochul’s inauguration was historic, breaking a glass ceiling that should have been broken long ago.  I look forward to her continued leadership, which will allow the State and SUNY to further their collaboration to support public higher education and make SUNY a global flagship."

​Alexandria Chun, SA President & SUNY Trustee, stated, “We are honored to be a part of this historic event and to support Governor Hochul as she begins her first full term as the first elected woman to the governorship in New York State.”

“It’s inspiring,” University at Albany, SUNY graduate student and SUNY fellow Kaitlyn Bertleff said, “Today was a snapshot of what was once a distant future making its way to the present. Watching Governor Hochul being inaugurated into New York’s highest office - it was a thrilling room to be in.”
